Invitation to all PARROT ENTHUSIASTS
….join us at the Golden Triangle Parrot Club!
With the high cost of printing and postage, not to mention the volunteer commitment to create a newsletter, we thought it might be more beneficial to discontinue the newsletter and use the money we save to contribute quality items to the monthly door prizes at our meetings and continue to donate to the latest CPC Pennies4parrots Challenge. We will send out periodic notices about upcoming meetings and events to those who do not have access to the internet, but for the majority of our members we encourage you to please visit our club website at www.gtpc.ca for the latest updates.
January 11, 2012 – “A new beginning…….”
As we have mentioned before, 2012 is going to be an exciting new year as we begin the process of creating a new path and vision for the GTPC, namely:
- Focus on parrot conservation
- Raise funds for the Canadian Parrot Conference’s Pennies4Parrots 2012 Challenge (benefiting the Abaco Parrot project in the Bahamas)
- Provide support and education to our members and the general public
PLEASE NOTE: We respectfully request that this be a bird free meeting.
We plan to have a round table discussion on ideas, suggestions, etc on what we can do as a club to raise funds and work on education projects. Goals will be set, time lines enacted, plans of action will be put in place and participation by all members will be expected. Please come prepared with your ideas and suggestions.
Membership fees will be payable at this first meeting.
We have some great leaders in our club, but as we are sure you can appreciate a strong team is what builds the cornerstones of support for any reputable organization. We have a wonderfully diversified membership and we hope to see many of you at this inaugural meeting of the renewed GTPC.
December 14, 2011 -Holiday Inn (Christmas Social)
NEW DATE and LOCATION THIS MONTH: 2nd Wednesday (Dec 14th) at the Holiday Inn, 601 Scottsdale Drive, Guelph
Doors open at 7pm, socializing begins at 7:30pm. Ask Holiday Front Desk for room number.
Yes folks that time of year has crept up on us once again when our feathered kids can’t wait to tear into their Christmas goodies and the beautifully decorated tree, other folks pressies and all those wonderful morsels you have been preparing for your soon to arrive guests (lol).
For our Christmas Social we ask that everyone bring a wrapped birdie gift for the gift exchange (please indicate if for a Small, Medium or Large parrot), food donation for the food bank and a tasty dish to share with everyone. The club will provide soft drinks and warm apple cider.
We have exciting plans for the club for 2012 and hope you will be able to take a break from your holiday preparations this one evening to learn all about it and how you personally can participate and make a difference in the parrot world.
See you on December 14th!

Join us this month at our meeting and get a chance to win a weekend pass to the Canadian Parrot Conference!
There are a great list of guest speakers. Check it out at www.canadianparrotconference.ca
There will also be raffle prizes and the usual treats.
NEW DATE and LOCATION THIS MONTH: 4th Wednesday (Oct 26th) at the Holiday Inn, 601 Scottsdale Drive, Guelph
Doors open at 7pm, meeting begins at 7:30pm. Ask Holiday Front Desk for room number.
We have had to change our meeting location for this month due to more renovations being done at the hall (replacing windows this time).
If you didn’t make it out at our September Festival of Parrots, you didn’t get a chance to see the great changes that were made to the CAW hall.
It now has a raised – peaked ceiling, new floors, more space, updated kitchen and bathrooms. They increased the space by removing the small stage.
Remember that we do not meet in November as we are busy with the Canadian Parrot Conference. We may have a couple openings for volunteers at the event, contact Nathalie at info@gtpc.ca if you are interested in volunteering.
September 25, 2011 – Annual Festival of Parrots & Picnic
It is hard to believe that we are planning for our Annual September Festival of Parrots & Picnic – WOW where did the summer go???
This event is also a fund raiser for the Canadian Parrot Conference’s Pennies4Parrots 2011 Challenge. There will be lots of games & competitions for members and feathered companions alike. This is the perfect time to show off your FIDs and their “special talents”. There are categories for everything, even the most “unique feathering”, so don’t be bashful, come one come all. Ribbons will be awarded to the winners. Once again we are trying to recruit none parrot owners for our judges – keeps the judging interesting!
As this is also our annual picnic we ask everyone to bring a food item to share. Drinks and all paper supplies (plates, napkins, utensils, cups, etc) will be supply by GTPC.
See you on Sunday, September 25th. The fun begins at 1:00 PM
Location: CAW Hall (small school house) located at 611 Silvercreek Parkway, Guelph (close to the Hanlon (Hwy 6) and Hwy 7 intersection)
