September Meeting, Annual Picnic & Festival of Parrots – Sun Sep 13/09

Our 1st Annual Pet Bird Show was a great success however we needed more time and space. Therefore, we are combining our September meeting, Annual Picnic and Festival of Parrots into one major event and moved it to Sunday, September 13th. The location for this year’s event will be the CAW Hall (small school house) located at 611 Silvercreek Parkway in Guelph. A separate flyer will be mailed out with all the details including directions.

The picnic will be pot luck (club will provide drinks). Bring your feathered (and in some cases your “not so feathered”) friends and participate in this year’s Festival of Parrots. If last year was any indication we are definitely going to have a blast! There are lots of “unique” categories so everyone is sure to go home a winner. GTPC Award Ribbons are waiting for your FIDS. We will also have fun activities for owner and parrot alike with prizes for the winners. Don’t miss out on the fun. This year’s proceeds will be donated to the CPC’s Pennies 4 Parrots (www.pennies4parrots.ca) campaign (you can play games / get tickets tickets for as low as $0.01 to participate), so dig into your penny/coin jars and come armed and ready!

If you would like to volunteer to be a judge or help out at one the stations, please let us know.

July & Aug Meetings

A friendly reminder that as we are all so busy in the summer with family activities, holidays, etc., there will be no meetings in July or August.

Stayed tuned for details about our September meeting which will be held on Sunday, September 13 and be a combination of meeting, Festival of Parrots & Annual Picnic.  Be sure to mark your calendars for what promises to be a spectacular day with our families & feathered companions.

June Meeting

It’s time for our 2nd Annual Buy & Sell.  Members are encouraged to bring clean gently used parrot related items (toys, stands, cages, etc.) to sell, trade or give away.  If you have a talent for making foraging items or play toys/stands, or perhaps you are into baking goodies for your parrots at home, these too would be great additions and especially enjoyed by our feathered friends.

Some of our members have indicated they will donate any funds raised to the GTPC’s Pennies4Parrots challenge (www.pennies4parrots.ca) to help boost our fund raising dollars.

Emerald Feather (www.emeraldfeather.com) will also be on hand with a selection of goods for sale.  They will be donating 20% of all sales to the GTPC Pennies4Parrots fund.

Looking forward to seeing you all on June 10th.

Mar 11 Topic Change

Both Nathalie and I have had emergencies just happen (Nat is in emergency waiting to have her daughter’s head stitched and I have just had a water pipe burst and am awaiting the plumber’s arrival). In lieu of this, our Chile presentation may be changed to our April meeting as we both want to be present and the way things look at the moment only one of us will be able to make the meeting this evening (most likely me – Allan will have to stay with the plumber).

We just wanted to give you all a heads up.
